What does a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer do?

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be pivotal in developing and implementing assigned sections of our Quality Assurance Program. This role involves planning and directing activities to establish and maintain quality standards for aerospace and defense manufacturing processes, materials, and products. You will craft and write procedures to enhance our Quality Assurance Program and coordinate complex audits to ensure compliance.

Additionally, you will design training programs for inspectors and manufacturing personnel to address quality challenges. Analyzing problems and implementing corrective actions will be key to preventing future issues, while your direct communication with customers will ensure clarity regarding resolutions. You will also review customer proposals, prepare comprehensive quality plans, and collaborate with customer Q.A. representatives for effective problem resolution. This position will engage you in special assignments and project teams, where your expertise will shine through documentation management, including engineering drawings and first article inspections, driving excellence in all facets of our operations.

What you need to be successful

To excel as a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have three to five years of relevant experience, preferably at the Quality Engineer level. A solid understanding of military and commercial aerospace quality assurance systems and procedures is essential. Familiarity with specifications such as MIL-Q-9858 and ISO 9001, as well as knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, are critical for navigating complex quality issues. Strong language skills are necessary for reading and interpreting documents, writing reports, and effectively communicating with both customers and team members. Mathematical proficiency is also required to calculate figures and apply concepts from basic algebra and geometry.

Candidates should be adept with personal computers and Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. Additionally, being a Certified Quality Engineer is highly desirable. Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret varied instructions will contribute significantly to success in this role.
